Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia, leading that school to the top ranking in the state.

With Gitomer serving as head coach for the past eight seasons, the Saints won back-to-back Virginia Independent School Athletic Association titles in and and finished in the top 10 at the National Prep Tournament for five straight seasons from Now with social media and the way people can connect, you can be instantaneous in terms of what you want and need. Gitomer said he is excited to return home to New Jersey where both his and his wife's families live.

He will look to build on the sturdy Blair Academy wrestling culture established by former head coaches Jeff Buxton and Brian Antonelli and forge strong relationships with the wrestlers and their families. The Buccaneers program has won 16 of the last 18 national prep championships and has won a record 40 overall.

I love trying to pack the crowds, pack the stands. Chris was building the alumni base and getting people back. But teamwise, yes Blair had an advantage. If you want to consider that an unfair advantage, well I guess you could. Edward, Ohio got a regular dose of Buxton and Blair. They were blood rivals on the mat. Mighty St. Eds, THE high school dynasty of the past plus years could defeat Blair only once in their annual dual meet in the past 12 years.

Blair won, bottom line as almost always Buxton prevailed. When the competition was the toughest and the pressure was the greatest, Jeff Buxton was the last man standing. They were just mentally tougher as well as more talented.

This has to be a reflection of their head coach. Paris Graham Ohio; five tournaments, twice to both St. Edward and St.

Pressure In this environment, the pressure to stay on top had to be immense. Jeff Buxton created it and perhaps towards the end it consumed him. Jeff Buxton was not an easy man to get along with in recent years. He wanted Blair to be recognized as the very best, and usually they were. Watch this man compete from his matside chair, fight for every edge, ride officials, yes he rode them hard; drive his teams with a combination of fear and love; they feared disappointing him and each wrestler wanted his approval.

When a Blair wrestler went to his back, Buxton would just glare at him with a laser stare. First, he was a great coach and a great technician. Second, he was a master not only at getting his kids to the next level, but also placing them at the right level. He knew which of his kids had what it takes to succeed at the very highest level in college, and which ones might be better fits at mid-level or lower-level programs, and was successfully able not only to make those connections, but to sell the kids on that.

Jeff was brutally honest with his kids and with us about them. Not a coachspeak guy. Was Buxton the Greatest? He is one of great coaches of our time at any level. My two cents are, does he rank with the greatest? You can only coach what walks through your door.
